1. What is the difference between OEM and original (or compatible) cartridges?
OEM cartridges are manufactured based on the designer’s license and sold to one or more producers of identical equipment, but of different brands.
Original cartridges (or compatible) can be cartridges manufactured entirely from new components, or using components from OEM cartridges, in the end obtaining products which have different properties from OEM cartridges, but which can be used on the same equipment.
A new equipment is sold with an OEM cartridge. When this OEM cartridge becomes empty, the user can choose to buy another OEM cartridge, or buy an original (compatible) cartridge at a lower price, or use the refill/remanufacturing services on the empty cartridge.
2. What is the difference between OEM and refilled/remanufactured cartridges?
OEM cartridges are licensed products, manufactured with entirely new components by factories accepted by the producer.
Refilled cartridges are reused OEM cartridges to which the printing substance is added.
In remanufactured cartridges, usually the OEM product case is kept and the used components are replaced, and finally the printing substance is added.
3. Why use refilled or remanufactured cartridges?
The most important advantage is the low cost. Another advantage is supporting the national economy and creating new jobs. Additionally, using refilling/remanufacturing services contributes to maintaining a cleaner environment by reusing more than once the components of a cartridge.
4. Tell me about the refilling process.
The refilling process completes the printing substance. Ribbon cartridges, ink cartridges and toner cartridges can be refills.
5. Tell me about the remanufacturing process.
The remanufacturing process uses the OEM cartridge case and replaces the components which affect the quality of print. Generally, the remanufacturing process is applied to toner cartridges.
6. Can refilled cartridges negatively affect my equipment?
No, when the refilling operation is executed by specialized personnel.
7. Can refilled cartridges offer the same quality of print as OEM cartridges?
Yes, if the printing substance is correctly chosen.
8. Will using refilled/remanufactured cartridges void my equipment warranty?
The warranty remains valid in accordance to the current legislation and can be voided only if the services are executed by unqualified personnel which can lead to equipment dysfunction. An equipment’s warranty cannot depend on the use of a certain consumable.
9. Can I refill my empty inkjet cartridges?
Yes, using refill kits. It is however recommended to use qualified personnel.
10. Can I remanufacture my empty cartridges?
Not recommended.
